Position Overview

Charter Keck Cramer is seeking to appoint a Legal Counsel to the Legal, Risk & Compliance Team, based in either Melbourne or Sydney. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal & Risk Officer, you will be involved in a wide range of in-house legal functions and be a key part of a small but dynamic team that services the entire company. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders by providing sound commercial legal advice  
  • Support the Chief Legal & Risk Officer with strategic projects that shape the future direction of our company   
  • Draft, advise on and negotiate the terms of commercial agreements 
  • Establish a thorough understanding of and build a strong relationship with Charter Keck Cramer’s various business units while working on interesting and diverse projects
  • Actively look for and identify new projects and ways the Legal, Risk & Compliance team can add value to the company

Position Requirements:

  • Commercially astute with an ability to identify issues and develop practical business focused solutions 
  • Pro-active self-starter who can autonomously juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities 
  • Generalist skill set with a proven track record of drafting and negotiating agreements and advising on a wide range of legal, commercial and operational issues
  • 2+ years post admission experience and current Australian Practising Certificate
