Charter applauds the UDIA for its advocacy of an evidence-based approach to deliver better policy outcomes for Australian cities. The UDIA’s latest 2017 State of the Land report provides a range of insights about Australia’s greenfield land market and again relies upon data from the National Land Survey Program (NLSP) which is a research collaboration between Charter Keck Cramer and Research 4.
At a national level, 2016 was another record year for the new greenfield market however there remains a divergence in performance between the cities. Melbourne out-performed significantly with Sydney and SEQ also posting strong results. Conditions in Perth and Adelaide remained subdued.
The key findings remind us that greenfield land markets are evolving and still act as the primary conduit to an increasingly diverse range of new housing supply.
The SotL Report provides solid evidence that when governments and industry do work together, better outcomes for our cities, communities and the economy are achieved.
